THE LOVEBUG...
Online love affairs can sometimes be very overwhelming. You get hit once, twice, thrice. You get hurt more than what you bargained for.
How would you recognize that special kind of feeling if you never get to see the person in flesh? Sure you communicate online; chat, emails, text messaging, video calls. Are these all enough to sustain that spark? What are your conversations like? Does it lead to the next step? Seeing each other in person and meeting for the first time? Or do they remain as plans and they can never be real? These are all the questions that would come to mind after getting into that love bug or online dating slash online love slash online love affairs.
Based on experience, the first few days and weeks into it seem so exciting. You are always looking forward to that time when you get connected and you saw that he has offline messages for you telling you his feelings; how he misses you while you were away and getting excited again when he gets the chance to chat with you and perhaps see you on cam. It goes on like this for an extended period of time and unbelievably you still feel the same. You only lack the personal meetings and you have yourself a relationship.
Ideally, I wouldn’t recommend this for everyone but what works for me might not work for you and vice versa. You just have to give a little more effort if you want the “relationship” to work. A lot of sacrifice if you want it to last. A ton of trust, patience and understanding for each other for you to make it through the rigorous cycle of love and its intricacies. It may not be easy to handle and nurture if you don’t get to see each other on a more personal level on a regular basis but hey, that’s why you love the person. No ifs; no buts.
And it always helps if the communication lines are open. It is already difficult that you don’t see each other so you must keep all lines open. Telling one another of how you feel at that exact moment would make all things easier. It would make the other person feel that you truly care, that you’re giving everything to make it work.
Hey, the many “I love you” always works. Never forget to say it every instance you get. Not only does it make each other feel good, it also helps that you get to feel secured even if you have the distance between you.
So don’t fear. If you get that chance, take the risk. Life isn’t fair all the time right? You just have to work really harder. It’s always nice to have that feeling of love and be loved in return.
